* Information From OMIM

Description: G proteins, which are involved in receptor-mediated cell signaling, are heterotrimers of alpha, beta, and gamma subunits. Alpha subunits confer receptor-dependent GTPase activity. The beta-gamma subcomplex is required for functional association of alpha subunits with receptors and exerts regulatory control over downstream effectors. Gamma subunits, such as GNG12, are thought to determine the functional specificity of the beta-gamma subcomplex (summary by Hurowitz et al., 2000).
