* Information From OMIM

Function: Using binding and mutation analyses, Carlson et al. (2004) showed that both the KRAB and zinc finger regions of OTK18 were required for its transcriptional suppressor function. OTK18 was induced in macrophages following HIV-1 infection and restricted viral infection. OTK18-mediated suppression of HIV-1 replication appeared to involve suppression of HIV-1 Tat-induced viral long-terminal repeat promoter activity.
